When you start your pc an error message “Windows cannot find hal.dll” welcomes you.
hal.dll is required for booting purposes, so its absence will not allow to access your computer and will your pc a HALT.

Solution 1:
To resolve this, we need to copy back hal.dll into windows directory.

1) Insert your Windows XP boot disc into your Cd drive and press enter while in error message to reboot
2) Press F8 when immediately when Computer restarts to boot from it (Some PC contain any other key to boot Cd. So ask your vendor for the boot key).
3) Wait for couple of minutes.
4) Now press R to enter the recovery console.
5) Let X: be your Cd drive letter. Now type:
Copy /Y “X:\I386\Hal.dl_” c:\Windows\System32\hal.dll
Now restart your computer.
Solution 2:
If it still doesn’t work, follow the steps:
Boot from XP disk and wait for several minutes until loading is complete. Press Enter to continue. Press F8. Now you’ll be asked to repair XP. Press R to repair.
Now the Problem will be 100% solved.
